It's really good but I think I need to take it a step further, needs a condiment or something.
I'll do some research and get back to you. I'm also gonna need a name... |

| | "American Music" - The Violent Femmes | ] | I've been sick for almost a week now and it won't quit. I wouldn't mind so much if my head wasn't so screwed up from it. I feel delusional, it's crazy. I'm not even that sick physically, I have a stuffy nose and am a cough, not even a fever. But my head just keeps spinning. Sorry, if I've been weird to anyone recently, I'm not really sure what day it is most of the time.
I'm in a fix for now since it's 10:30pm and I just woke up from a 5 hour nap.
I proposed this idea to Mike and I think he liked it. They should give you the option, at the end of your college career, to either take your degree or get a full cash refund. Think I'd take the money and run. |

Pretty crazy week. I was really let down that most of the time was one big grey, cold, cloudy mess. I really needed a few good days in the sun and I only really got one, but even then I was sick. I don't mean to complain, it was a great trip. I was kinda the odd man out, stuck in the middle of all this drama, but I'll get over it. The folks from A&M were really cool too.
Didn't get to stay at home as much as I wanted cause my car is a piece of shit.
Got my ticket to Italy. Sweet.
Caitlin's getting home in a few minutes I think so I'm going to cut this short... |

| | everything | ] | Hello.
Didn't realize it'd been so long since I updated.
What do I have to say?...
...
yeah.
I need to stop spending money. It's gotten so bad that I've actually hid my credit and debit cards away and I'll be taking out some cash at the beginning of each week and only spending that. I just haven't decided on the amount yet... this doesn't interest anyone, I'll move on.
I've thought about making a list of all the things I used to think I would have done by now in my life that I haven't, but that would be pretty damn depressing wouldn't it? I suppose I could say there are a lot of things I never thought I'd do that I have done and that would be less depressing.
and now for something completely different.
Spring Break is in a week. I don't know if I'm excited or not. All I really want to do is sit on a beach so I guess I'll get to do that, but it might be hard to have some "alone time" when I'm staying with 19 people. To those of you going, this is just a precationary apology if I happen to go missing for most of the week. I tend to wander off. |

| | Nick Cave | ] | Good news all around on this episode. First of all I just found out I made the Italy program. I really didn't think it was going to happen and I was certain I'd be stuck in Dallas over the summer taking some lame class to finish up my credits. But instead I get to spend a month in the heart of Italy and one of my classes is drawing. So I'm going to spend the beginning of everyday wandering around the city of Orvieto just drawing... yes. The place we're staying is great too. It's an actual hotel and not one of those student dormitories you might expect. Supposedly this the town itself is know for its wine too.
All I can say is I'm glad I can be as much of a fighter as I am sometimes. They were about to let me just sink to the bottom of the pile and forget about me, but I wouldn't leave them alone. Sometimes my stubornness comes in handy.
In celebration I bought an MP3 player to take on the trip so that I don't have to lug around 200+ cds. It's a Creative Zen Micro and it's not here yet, but it will be loved.
There's more to talk about but not here. :p |

| | "Queen of the Long-Legged Insects"-LullabyfortheWorkingClass | ] | This was hard. First of all, this is about the 5th time I've tried to sit down and post this and I just so happened to make it through without being interupted this time. Then of course it wasn't an easy task to try and take on virtually every genre of music and compile a list of what I thought were the greatest or most important bands/artists of all time. This is far from a definative list too. You're bound to disagree and I'll probably look back in a few weeks and want to shift some folks around but I figure the exact numbers aren't as important as the general placing of each band. I even know of some specific bands I'm missing, but I struggled with them and gave up.
I guess more than anything this is my interpretation of the 80 Greatest Bands of All Time. I paid attention to my personal taste, but I think all of these artists deserve your attention and I think it's a pretty complete list...
1. The Clash 2. The Beatles 3. The Rolling Stones 4. Pavement 5. Nirvana 6. Pixies 7. David Bowie 8. Bob Dylan 9. Led Zeppelin 10. The Kinks 11. The Ramones 12. Sonic Youth 13. The Who 14. Bob Marley and the Wailers 15. Radiohead 16. Elvis Costello 17. Iggy Pop and the Stooges 18. The Jimi Hendrix Experience 19. The Beach Boys 20. Beastie Boys 21. Pink Floyd 22. Velvet Underground 23. Neil Young 24. The Misfits 25. Public Enemy 26. Rancid 27. Sex Pistols 28. Queen 29. The Pogues 30. The Police 31. Elvis Presley 32. Wilco 33. Bo Diddley 34. Motorhead 35. Green Day 36. Husker Du 37. Jurassic 5 38. U2 39. The Jam 40. De La Soul 41. MC5 42. The Cure 43. The Specials 44. The Buzzcocks 45. Elton John 46. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers 47. Fugazi 48. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 49. Tribe Called Quest 50. Pearl Jam 51. R.E.M. 52. Billie Holiday 53. The Descendants 54. Bruce Springsteen 55. The Cars 56. The Smiths 57. The Doors 58. Aretha Franklin 59. Black Sabbath 60. | | the buzz of my computer | ] | So I had two really good ideas for depressing, pesimistic journal entries, but the fact is I'm feeling neither depressed nor pesimistic so they will have to wait.
Since my last entry I turned 22. Feels like 21.
The festivities started a whole two days early with Caitlin taking me out and will end this weekend around Saturday or Sunday when I actually get to celebrate with everybody. Do I know how to get the most out of something or what?
Anyway, here's to another year and whatever it may bring. *raises Capri Sun Big Pouch* |

| | The Shins - Know Your Onion! | ] | I've got 30 minutes to kill before class, why not? (This probably won't turn out to be the update I was promising. I'll save that for later...)
The Shins are awesome. Aren't you all glad I told you about them in Sep '03 and no one listened till a decent but ultimately overrated movie made a reference to them so that now the whole country likes them? Me too. Sorry, righteous music snob moment.
Anyways, I've been feeling so dull lately. What happened to way I felt this summer and even a lot of last semester when all I felt like doing was seeing how far I could run or climb trees? It's cause I'm turning 22 isn't it?!
That's another thing. My birthday. I don't know what I think about it. I know that this is the one you're supposed to start hating. I can't say I don't see why either. Anyone who knows me has got a pretty good idea that I don't want to grow up. It's a big fear I have and it can be rather crippling at times. Time is a bitch.
I think I want this damn winter to end. Fucking rodent... grow some balls. |
